  Examples :

VIDEO Pins that restrain the top end of a column to nearby views are deleted. A new pin is added using Model > Members > Pins > Pin Add > To other member line , then the beam that the column frames to is selected as the "other member line." When that beam's elevation is increased, the column's top end is automatically stretched the appropriate distance. (Recorded in SDS2 Detailing , v2017.)

VIDEO Pins on the ends of beams being spliced are deleted, then a new pin is added using Model > Members > Pins > Pin Add > To other member's end. Additional adjustments are made, then the elevation of one end of one beam is changed, resulting in members that are pinned to that end or to that beam's member line adapting appropriately to the elevation change. (Recorded in SDS2 Detailing , v2017.)

VIDEO Filler beams are added between two beams. Model > Members > Pins > Pin Add > even spaced members is used to constrain the beams to even spacing. (Recorded in SDS2 Detailing , v2017.)

   Step-by-step instructions :

Pin Add can be used in Modeling to pin member ends. These instructions assume that you have not preselected the member ends that you want the new pins to be added to.

1 . Before invoking Pin Add :

1a : Open ( Ctrl + o ) a view in Modeling that shows the member ends and the items (views, members, other member ends) that you want to pin those member ends to.

1b : The display of member ends (" Member ends always displayed ") and member lines (" Member lines ") and grid lines (such as " Primary erection grid lines ") should be turned on.

2 . Invoke Pin Add using one (1) of the following methods:

Method 1 : Click the icon. The icon can be taken from the group named ' Model -- Member ' and placed on a toolbar (classic) or the ribbon (lightning).

Method 2 : If " Modeling layout style " is ' Classic ', you can use the menu system to choose Model > Member > Pins > Pin Add (classic), or use a keyboard shortcut or the context menu.

Method 3, 4 or 5 : Pin Add can also be configured to be invoked using a keyboard shortcut , the context menu , or a mode . For the lightning interface, this configuration is done using Customize Interface .

3 . A window opens with the following options. Each of the eight options pins a member end in an unique way to a member end or grid line (view) or member line . Double-click the option you want, then read the status line prompting and perform the actions required of you in the model.
